Thermoregulated container (THERMOCASE)

The development of this project is jointly financed by the European Space Agency, for transportation of heat-sensitive biological (animal and vegetable) cultures in extreme conditions (-20°C/+45°C). Thermocase internal temperature is adjustable from 1°C to 40°C. A PELTIER effect system is electronically controlled for hot or cold regulation.

Features

The system can operate independently on internal battery or 110/220V mains supply.

Example of independent operation:

  • For an internal temperature of 6°C and an external temperature of 22°C, the system provides over 33 hours of independent operation. Batteries used are comptatible with cabin air transport. The container has an effective volume of 5 cubic litres. Polyurethane foam provides thermal insulation.

The container comes with a graphic display and a programming keypad. Case temperature, ambient temperature and remaining autonomy are thus displayed.

The display features a traceability system indicating internal case temperature over the previous thirty days. It also displays warning alarms (e.g. overshooting of programmed temperature) and events (e.g. opening of the case). This information is erasable-proof.

In addition, the system may be hooked up to a PC and used with EXCEL. The container has been manufactured to cope with poor transportation conditions.
